This textile artwork is made using a technique called appliqué. Smaller pieces are sewn to a larger base so it is idea when using fabric scraps. The fabrics used have all been donated by fashion brands who produce offcuts during their production process. Repurposing these offcuts is a win win - it helps reduce the 92 million tonnes of textile waste that end up in landfill every year, and they create the perfect materials for making appliqué artworks.
